Manchester United, the world’s most valuable soccer team, keeps growing but they recorded a net loss last year.
Manchester United has posted record revenue of $794 million in the fiscal year ending June 2018. This is a lot of money in local currency. The soccer team also had a net loss of $50 million. This is compared with a profit of $53 million in 2017.
The only other soccer teams with more revenue than Manchester United are Barcelona ($1.09 billion) and Real Madrid ($892) million. However, Barcelona’s figure includes player transfer profits. This includes the then-record $237 million they got for Neymar (Brazilian forward). This is when he moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
Manchester United’s earnings release noted that the United States federal corporate income tax rate reduced from 35% to 21%. This was after the substantive enactment of US tax reform on the 22^nd of December 2017. This allowed the re-measurement of the existing deferred tax position in the period to 31 December 2017. As a result of this, the loss for the 12 months ended 30 June 2018. This includes a non-cash tax accounting write off of about £48.8 million ($66 million).

Let’s look at the Club’s Profits

Despite the team’s net loss, they threw off a massive amount of cash. The team reported earnings of $238 million in fiscal 2018. This is before taxes, interest, depreciation and amortization of $238 million in fiscal 2018.
For fiscal 2019, Manchester United soccer team expects its revenue to come in between $828 million and $848 million.  They expect the earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and to land anywhere from $236 million and $256 million.
During the last year, shares of the soccer team have increased about twice as much as the Standard & Poor’s 500.

“A 7-year-old girl raped in the restroom of a popular restaurant”, a police spokesman has said.
Lungelo Dlamini, a spokesman for the South African Police, has said that a 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with that incident.
The accused man was arrested at the restaurant. He has been charged with rape and also possession of drugs.
Dlamini has said that the suspect has been arrested and appeared in court on Tuesday over this incident. The suspect will remain in custody until his bail hearing.
The National Prosecuting Authority has taken over the case and so, Dlamini could not give further details.

What Happened

According to local media reports, the young girl had gone to the bathroom when the assailant attacked her. He grabbed her and raped her in the men’s restroom.
When her mother went looking for her, she heard voices from the bathroom. This is when she alerted customers at the restaurant.
The incident has caused outrage and anger in the country. This comes amid other high-profile reports of violence against women in few recent months.

A Society In Need Of Help

In another case this week, a 17-year-old girl was raped by a man posing as a doctor. This was after she had just given birth at a hospital. The incident happened at a hospital in the Eastern Cape Province.
In another incident, a 23-year-old university student took her own life in August. This was 2 months after she reported that another student on campus had raped her.
According to government statistics, rape and many other forms of sexual violence against women is a serious problem countrywide.
Estimates released by the national statistical service of S.A., 138 out of every 100 000 women in the country were raped in 2016 and 2017.
This figure is among the highest in the world. Because of this, South Africa has been labelled the ‘rape capital of the world.’
S.A. women angered by this took to social media asking the government to increase sentences for all rape and other forms of sexual crime.

“She is just a Friend”- Works just the same way as he is just a friend. So ladies for this one we will let you be the judge.
“Be home in 5 minutes”- This lie is equal to “I will be ready in 5 minutes”. So well, you know what we mean.
“I need my Space”- After dating for 3¹/₂ years you need space? If you say so, but all that time you didn’t need space? What can we say though?
“No network coverage”- He will switch off his phone just because he knows that you are looking for him. And then what will he say, “I didn’t have network”. And trust you me, he will look so honest and so dismayed.
“I want to watch you sleep the whole night”- We are sure if your man really does this, but since you will also be asleep, you have no proof. But you are really lucky if he does watch you sleep though.
Money Lies- With this one we couldn’t really find the right statement, as there are too many of them. This one is usually common when he is asking a lady out, he will tell you he has so much money. And you only realize later that this was a strategy to lure you in.
